Research shows that 25 percent of sales people generate 90 to 95 percent of all sales. Clearly, most sales people are not selling up to their potential and therefore not earning the money they could, nor generating the profits they should. Why would this be? It's not that the work can't be done because 25 percent are doing it, and doing it well. It's because the other 75 percent either are not in the right sales position or they truly don't know how to sell. If all sales people knew and did what the top 25 percent do, then all sales people would be at quota!


Do you want to produce more sales? First ask yourself if you are working for the right sales organization. If you are not, make a career change. If you are, then you must to train to sell the same way, with the same sales tools, that the top producers do. In other words, you are probably going to need sales training.

If you want to sell more, you need to invest in yourself and you must do so where you can guarantee yourself a good return. You can always improve your sales talents, even if you have been selling for a long time. Don't forget, there is a difference between 10 year’s experience and 1 year’s bad experience repeated 10 times!

We all want your mechanic well trained, you want your financial advisor well trained, you need your doctor well trained and yes, everyone needs your sales team well trained. It is incredible that some corporations today spend more on photocopier maintenance than they spend on their personnel responsible for driving income for the corporation, the essential necessity of the business!


Both managers and sales representatives alike must always remember that, regardless of the level of experience in the trade, the education should never stop. If the majority of the sales are produced by so few of the sales representatives, obviously there is room for improvement for the rest. Top producing sales representatives and sales managers are not born, they are made! They are the product of hard work, dedication, motivation to excellence and most notably, training.
